This much I know

Wow, this took some work but we got it done! Composition/writing of my first country song. I like it and I hope you do as well.

Song BPM: 93

Lyrics:

(Verse 1)

I wake up with the rooster’s crow, a symphony so bright,

Sun paints the sky in hues of gold, chasing away the night.

Just a simple man, calloused hands and worn-out boots,

Walkin’ this dusty road, singin’ the same old truths.

In a world where anger simmers like a pot on high,

I choose the gentle flame of kindness, a teardrop in the dry.

Reflectin’ on the love He showered down, a gift beyond compare,

Makes me wanna spread that kindness, a love that fills the air.

(Chorus)

Just tryin’ to live this life till his return,

Through the trials and the lessons, we all must learn.

Loving your neighbor, it’s the only way to go,

In a world full of struggles, this much I know.

(Verse 2)

Scrolling through the filtered lives, a perfect picture show,

But a text won’t mend a broken heart, a like won’t make it grow.

So I ditch the digital facade and pick up the phone’s 0,

A human voice, a heartfelt word, the joy that connections bring.

Maybe there’s a neighbor lonely, stranger feelin’ blue,

A simple “howdy, how you doin’?” can plant a seed brand new.

Just like the Good Samaritan, helpin’ with an open hand,

Lovin’ my neighbor as myself, part of His grand command.

(Chorus)

Tryin’ to live this life till his return,

Through the trials and the lessons, we all must learn.

Loving your neighbor, it’s the only way to go,

In a world full of struggles, this much I know.

(Bridge)

Life throws curveballs, fast and wild, a hurricane of woes,

But with a hand to hold you steady, love like a steady rose.

Compassion, the bridge we build, across the canyons wide,

Together we’ll weather any storm, with faith as our guide.

With God’s love as my foundation, I stand strong and unafraid,

Spreading kindness and compassion, the difference to be made.

(Verse 3)

As twilight paints the canvas, stars winkin’ in the dome,

I count my blessings, whisper thanks, for the love that finds me home.

This crazy, mixed-up world, where hope can flicker low,

My family’s the fire that warms me, the reason for the glow.

Beneath the evening star’s soft light, I find my peace within,

Knowing love is all that matters, the purest kind of win.

His love lights up the darkness, a beacon in the night,

And with that love I’ll keep on walkin’, doin’ what I know is right.

(Chorus)

Just tryin’ to live this life till his return,

Through the trials and the lessons, we all must learn

Loving your neighbor, it’s the only way to go,

In a world full of struggles, this much I know.

I hope you enjoyed “This Much I Know”. We all go through all kinds of struggles and the love that God teaches us goes a long way. The song emerged from a desire to offer a message of hope in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s about choosing kindness even when things are tough, about the strength we find in God, and the importance of holding onto what matters most.

The opening verse sets the scene – a world simmering with anger. But instead of getting caught in the heat, I wanted to offer an alternative: “the gentle flame of kindness, a teardrop in the dry.” It might seem like a small act, a single teardrop of compassion, but sometimes that’s all it takes to bring a little comfort to a parched fading world.

The heart of the song beats in the chorus. It’s a simple declaration about striving to live a redeemed/ good life, “till his return,” a testament to the soon return of Jesus and a believing in something bigger than ourselves. It also emphasizes the importance of loving your neighbor as yourself, because in the face of life’s struggles, “that’s the only way to go.” Yep this means we all have to love ourselves.

“This Much I Know” isn’t about grand gestures, it’s about the everyday choices we make. It’s about choosing kindness over anger, patience over frustration, and understanding over writing someone off. It’s about reminding ourselves that even the smallest acts can make a difference.

This debut song is my attempt to capture the essence of country music – a message of hope, wrapped in a melody that makes you want to tap your foot and sing along. Looking forward to seeing what all can be done with it. If someone asked me was that my voice in the song I’d say no but it could be with the way technology is moving. #tech #music Let me know on my Facebook page what resonates with you? This is a chapter in my musical journey, and I’m excited to see what’s on the next page. Thanks for joining me on this ride!

Did you know there are helpful attributes to love?

Attributes of love:

patience, kindness, not envying, not being jealous, not bragging, not rejoicing in injustice, rejoicing with the truth, not being rude, not being arrogant, always hopes, always trusts, forgoes all, love never fails. That’s why we all need it. 1 Corinthians 13:4 is a great guide, you can’t go wrong.
